Kyle Atkins-Weltman
I am a PhD student at Oklahoma State University, and I study the paleoecology of the end-Cretaceous. My background is purely in biology, so that is where I focus all of my paleontological efforts. My current focus is biomechanics of locomotion, though this is but one project I have planned.
I believe that learning the present is the key to understanding the past, so when I am not doing biomechanical modeling or other research on fossils, I am working hands-on with living animals, particularly reptiles. This experience has proved valuable to my work, as it inspires me with questions and hypotheses that I can then test on extinct animals.
